本作は、プロンプトを入力してから画像が生成されるまでの「敵対的生成ネットワーク（GAN）」のプロセスを可視化したペインティングです。 画面左から右へと進むにつれて、本物と偽物を識別しながらそれらしいイメージに近づいていきます。中央の円は「生成途中」を示すローディングサークル（読み込み中に回転する“くるくる”）を表現しています。
構図は長谷川等伯《松林図屏風》に着想を得ており、そこに描かれる視線の流れをピクセルの歪みにしました。日本の伝統的な「間（ま）」の感覚を、生成AIの仕組みに重ね合わせ、現代的に再解釈した作品です。
なお、《松林図屏風》が一対で構成されているように、本作も対になる作品「Diffusion Model」を併せて発表しています。

※裏面木枠に壁掛け用のフレンチクリート（ピクチャーハンガー）が4個ついています。

This painting visualizes the process of a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), from entering a prompt to the generation of an image. As the scene progresses from left to right, the model refines its output by distinguishing between real and fake, gradually approaching a convincing image. At the center, a circular motif represents the state of “in progress” — a loading circle, the familiar spinning icon shown while something is being generated.

The composition is inspired by Tōhaku Hasegawa’s Pine Trees Folding Screens, reinterpreting the guided flow of the viewer’s gaze as distortions of pixels. The traditional Japanese concept of ma (the interval, or space between things) is here layered onto the mechanism of generative AI and reimagined in a contemporary context.

Just as Pine Trees Folding Screens is composed as a pair, this work is also presented together with its counterpart, “Diffusion Model”, which depicts another generative process.
